look up transmission wiring harness the auto trans uses the prndl switch wires for reverse and the 6 speed has a switch screwed into the case
that makes contacts with the reverse light wires

What wirehrness do you have? If auto you will need a tt connector to hook up to the tranny.

 

Not sure how would I tell the car was origionally a auto but had a 6sp conversion b4 I bought it so I have no clue if they changed the harnass

 

I believe the interior harnesses are the same. My 1994 turbo car has the three plugs for the prndl and other auto stuff. I looked them up after removing my shifter bezel and saw all the unused connectors. Maybe it would have the manual reverse switch connector as well?

If not, you can use the wire in the auto plug that is running to the reverse lights with the proper manual trans connector.

The yellow and red wire of the big automatic plug down by the transmission will get spliced into the two pin connector thats on the v160.

I used the MKIV link, and its explaining how to perform this IF you happen to be using the AUTO engine harness, which, I am no. I am using the USDM 6spdTT harness in my swap

I have an auto mkiv. Swapped a GTE full takeout into the car as well as the USDM 6spd TT engine harness. All I really have left is the reverse light wiring... Can you all help?

I have the getrag reverse sensor plugged into the usdm TT harness connector. I assume somewhere up in the shifter area where I have all the little leftover AUTO shifter plugs, a wire needs added from a plug there to my sensor under the car?

 

Bump. My reverse lights stopped working post auto to 6 speed swap. They were working before. What can be some good starting points to resolve? I am going to test the bulbs to see if they went bad on me first.
